A blast of cold has hit our town this past week. Today it’s a balmy -20c…
This kind of weather makes me want to curl up in front of a fireplace with a warm blanket and a cup of hot cider. Unfortunately, life doesn’t stop just because it’s cold outside. In fact my life is about to get crazy.
Today is the day — It’s closing day. All the subjects for the purchase of my condo will be removed; all that remains is the signing. I will sign off on the realtor paperwork today; Friday I sign off on the mortgage. I suddenly feel a bit nauseous. I take possession on the 18th, so I have some time to organize all the renovation contractors. Basically they will have from January 19th – 27th to do the flooring, kitchen and bathroom. Fingers cross it all goes smoothly.
I’m handling the stress surprisingly well. As much as I want this month to fly by without me having to take part in it, I know that’s not going to happen. So I’m keeping busy, and getting shit done. My multi-tasking skills are being tested to their limits right now. Between work, my housing project, and a final exam I have to study for, I’ve got my hands full. Imagining myself in my new home is keeping me going — it’s my fuel. All I need to do is visualize myself propped up in the corner of my couch with a glass of wine in hand. My new living room has a floor to ceiling window that gives view to the whole city. I can already see the sparkle of the city lights at night. BREATH-TAKING.
Three weeks. All I need to do is get through the next three weeks, and I can settle back into life. I know the change is good for me, but I need my stability back. I’m ready for the next chapter to begin. Still, I need to stop and take notice of each step along the way…
- put trailer on the market for sale (on my birthday October 14)
- put baseboards in trailer
- accept offer on trailer
- make repairs to trailer as requested by the buyer
- close the deal on the trailer
- look for a new home
- make an offer on the condo
- make several counter-offers on condo
- agree on price
- move in to a temp rental before Christmas
- celebrate Christmas and New Year
- get appraisal done for renovation loan
- Study for final exam that is scheduled for January 15, 2017
- review strata minutes
- get financing approval
- remove subjects on Closing date (today, January 4, 2017)
That’s a busy two and a half months — only 3 weeks to go.
What will I do when it’s all done you ask???? I will put some serious effort into dating — I still need cross sex off my 2016 to-do list.
